Social Media Marketing for Salons and Beauty Studios

A salon sells a change in how someone looks and feels. That is the easiest thing in the world to film, and the most commonly ruined by bad light and a rushed reveal.

Fix the light before anything else

Most salon videos are shot under mixed lighting, so hair colour reads orange on camera and nothing looks like the real result. Pick one chair, face it toward a window or a single soft lamp, and film every before and after in that same spot.

The formats clients actually watch

You do not need trends. You need the same four videos, refilled with new clients.

  • A full before and after with the reveal held for two seconds, not cut short.
  • One service explained with its real price and how long it takes.
  • A client saying what they asked for and whether they got it.
  • One care tip that saves the look at home.

Ask permission at the start, not the end

Get a yes before the towel goes on, and film the before shot immediately. Chasing consent after a great result is how most salons lose their best content.

Put booking one tap away

Every caption ends the same way: the service, the price range, and the number to message. A viewer impressed by a reveal will not go hunting for your contact details.

Real examples

Bad line, good line.

Most people write

A reveal cut off after half a second under mixed yellow light.

Say this instead

The same reveal held for two full seconds, one chair, one window.

Most people write

"Book your appointment now!"

Say this instead

"Global colour, NPR 4,500, takes about three hours. Message to book."

Full example

Worked example: one chair, five reveals

01Pick one chair facing a window and film every before-and-after there.
02Ask permission before the towel goes on and film the before immediately.
03End every caption with service, price range, and the number to message.

Before

Two seconds, honest, same light.

The work

Hands, product, technique.

Reveal

Held long enough to register.

The reveal cut short is the most common salon mistake.

Nobody books a haircut from a poster. They book it from a reveal they believed.

Do this week

Three things you can do now.

01Choose one chair as your filming spot and light it properly.
02Film five complete before and afters this week, reveal held two seconds.
03Add service, price, and booking number to the end of every caption.
