Working With Local Creators Without Wasting Money

Creator collaborations in Nepal are cheap compared to ads and easy to get wrong. The businesses that lose money almost always paid for reach instead of relevance.

Small and local beats big and general

A creator with eight thousand followers in your city will out-sell one with two hundred thousand across the country, because their audience can actually walk into your shop.

What to check before you pay

Ask for numbers, not a media kit.

  • Average views on their last ten posts, not their best one.
  • Where their audience is, by city, from their own insights.
  • Comments from real people, not one-word emoji replies.
  • What they have promoted before, and whether it looked forced.

Brief the point, not the script

Tell them the one thing that must be said and the one thing they must not claim, then let them make it in their own voice. A creator reading your script sounds like an ad and performs like one.

Measure with something trackable

A code, a link, a "mention this video" line, or simply asking at the counter. Without one of those you will never know which collaboration worked, and you will repeat the wrong one.

Real examples

Bad line, good line.

Most people write

Paying NPR 25,000 to a creator with 200k followers across all of Nepal.

Say this instead

Paying NPR 5,000 each to four creators whose audience is in your city.

Most people write

Sending a creator a script to read.

Say this instead

Telling them one thing to say and one thing not to claim.

Full example

Worked example: four small collabs

01Ask each for average views on their last ten posts and their audience city split.
02Brief one message and one restriction, then leave them alone.
03Give each a different code or question so you know which one worked.
One collaboration

What you are actually paying for

50%
30%
20%
Local relevance

Audience that can reach your door.

Their own voice

Briefed, not scripted.

Something trackable

A code, a link, a question.

Follower count is the line worth the least.

Pay for the audience that can reach your door, not the one that fills a screenshot.

Do this week

Three things you can do now.

01Ask any creator for average views on their last ten posts.
02Brief one message and one restriction, then step back.
03Give every collab a trackable code or question at the counter.
